God speaks to us in our own language so we can understand.

Doctrine and Covenants 1:24 teaches that God gives commandments to His servants "after the manner of their language, that they might come to understanding." That verse stood out to me because it shows that communication is not only about speaking the truth. It is also about helping the listener understand the truth.

I think this applies to both spiritual and everyday communication. If God speaks to people in a way they can understand, then I should also think carefully about the people I am speaking to. A message that makes sense to one person may confuse another person. A child, a classmate, a supervisor, and a customer may all need the same basic information, but not in the same words.

This reminds me that good communication requires humility. I should not speak just to sound intelligent. I should speak to be understood. Whether I am writing for school, work, church, or family, I need to consider the audience, their background, and what they need from the message. Clear communication is a way to show respect.
